SOME  OF OUR RECENT EVENTS

MMRT 42 periodically organises various fund raiser programs which are aimed at supporting our on-going FTE projects and enables us to build a corpus for future projects and community service activities. The money raised is directed towards our Foundation which has 80G exemption and is compliant with the local legal framework for maintaining the status of a Foundation. We are also annually audited for our compliance and meaningful deployment of funds that have been raised.

Some of the larger Fund Raiser events that we have successfully managed in the past years

“Cock-A-Table-Do” is an yearly badminton tournament held by MMRT42 for Tablers, Circlers and Twinklers from other tables. This year’s tournament was held at Shuttler, Royapettah, with more than 140+ participants from across Tables. The participants competed against each other in a variety of categories such as Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles and Twinklers.

The matches were held across 6 courts simulatneously with professional referees to conduct them. It was an all day event with energy bustling out of every corner from participants battling it out on the court to get their hands on the titles.

Our “Vasanth Memorial Fellowship Trophy”, awarded to the Table that brought in maximum turnout, drew special attention as Tablers and Circlers reached out to their peers and got them out there to either participate or cheer for their team. With every Table trying to rope in their members until the last minute, MSRT 159 took the trophy home.

“Classroom Kitchen” was an exquisite Charity Dinner & Master Class organised by MMRT42 and MMLC7 to raise funds to enable a brighter future for under privileged children by constructing classrooms & school infrastructure. 

Sashikumar Cheliah, a popular celebrity Chef and the 2018 winner fo the most viewed competitive Cooking Game Show – MasterChef Australia, was flown in from Australia exclusively to host our event. For the first time in India, he curated an exquisite SIT DOWN dinner and a MASTER CLASS. 

The event was sold out in 24 hours and MMRT42 team raised funds north of Rs. 1.5 Crores to build classrooms at the Madras Seva Sadan School to meet the growing needs of the school and its students. 

The events on both days were held at the Flying Elephant, Park Hyatt Chennai with marquee sponsors such as Sumeru, Lexus, Mahindra Foundation, The Hindu to name a few. The event took the city by storm and it was covered by most of the top News channels and magazines, and it topped at 2 Million Views through various social media channels. 

The stand-up comedy show titled “Madrasi Da” by artist S Aravind which was well received by the Chennai audience was centred as the fundraiser program to support our ongoing FTE projects. Chennai was treated to a laugh riot and Aravind who was full of energy made the 2-hour event seem like a very short program.

The event was held at the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall on June 18th 2016. The event was a complete sell out where close to 1200 tickets were sold as either Donor Passes or online ticket sales through our online ticketing partner websites. The RTI movement and MMRT 42s work was highlighted both at the start and the end of the program to educate the audience and to create awareness about our FTE projects and how they can help.The event was only made possible by the generous support of the sponsors.

Luxe Royale was aimed exclusively at bringing together Chennai’s Elite and Fashion Conscious residents under one roof. It showcased the best of Fashion, Art and Fine dining for the High Net Worth individuals at The Park Hotel, Nungambakkam. Funds were raised to support our FTE program. Vivek Karunakaran spearheaded the Fashion show.

The Ramp walk was studded with handpicked models and TRANSFORMERS who have made a difference in the society by transforming the lives of the people in Chennai with their ideas, generosity and willingness to go the extra mile. To mention a few prominent ramp walk TRANSFORMERS: Honorary Tabler. Arvind Swamy, Mrs. Radhika Sarathkumar & Mr. Sarathkumar.

An Art Auction was also held with the support of Prakrit Arts, which is a Chennai based art gallery whose goal is to promote Indian contemporary art. Meena Dadha founder of Prakrit Art Gallery is credited with many art shows and she has introduced many young talented artist from all over India.

Entertainment included a unique trapeze act performed by Frenchman Romaine Timmers which was a mix of Folk dance, Military movements using Flamenco and gypsy rhythms by LvDS, ISPTD and the Kha Foundation.

Madras Round Table 42 organised a live concert roping in one of India’s most renowned stage and playback Singers – Sonu Nigam. The concert was held at the Wesley stadium in Chennai, enthralling a gathering of over 6500 attendees. This event was done in partnership with The Hindu on January 13th 2013.

The event generated good visibility to our table and our classroom projects. Posters across the city, hoardings, publicity banners on bus shelters across the city, bus banners in over 500 buses and over 15 half page multicolor newsprint ads in “The Hindu” generated a lot of buzz around the event. There were several pre and post event coverage as well across all leading news daily.

The main sponsors of the event were Kocchar Homes and associate sponsors – Star Health Insurance, Renault and Dixcy Scott. Radio partner was 92.7 Big FM, event partner was Aura, hospitality partner was Radisson Blu, and the event was coordinated by Sharan Incoporation.

The funds raised from this concert was deployed towards our classroom projects at the Govt High School at Pallikarnai. Chennai.
